A NUMBER of RGC senior squad members got the chance to visit the regional base of a national armed forces charity recently.
The Gogs’ paid a visit to the Blind Veterans UK base in Llandudno earlier this month as part of their ongoing community involvement programme, spending time with those using the facility and taking part in a wealth of activities throughout their stay.
The visitors, who included coach Josh Leach, Danny Cross and Beau Williams, were taken out of their comfort zone thanks to their participation in blind tandem biking and blind archery, in addition to wearing glasses that demonstrated the difficulties that come with being visually impaired.
A stiff test awaits RGC during their next Indigo Group Premiership contest on December 27, with the squad making the trip to defending champions Merthyr for an evening fixture (7.15pm).
Matt Silva’s side have been in good form during the first half of the season after a difficult summer that saw a host of influential figures depart the set-up, and they currently sit in fifth position in the standings after winning six and losing four of their opening ten contests.
They are sixth points off second-placed Carmarthen Quins and just one back of Pontypridd in fourth with a game in hand ahead of their test against the Ironmen, who have been an extreme disappointment this term after a consistent period of top-flight dominance in recent years.
RGC will be coming up against former player Sam Jones, who left the club for the title holders during the summer after coming through the Gogs’ Academy system to make a significant impact in the first team.
