After four years with CPD Y Rhyl 1879, Andy Wilmot has decided to take a break from football.

The club has expressed its gratitude for Mr Wilmot's "incredible commitment and work rate" during his time with them.

Director Ryan Desmond said: "Andy has been an absolute pleasure to work with over the last four years, his positivity is infectious.

"He will be a huge loss at CPD Y Rhyl 1879."

Mr Wilmot shared a heartfelt farewell message with the club and its supporters.

He said: "Lilywhites... where do I start?

"From day one when I came in, it’s been the absolute pleasure of my football journey to have been such a part in my hometown club's new history.

"Many, many highs and to be honest, not too many lows, leagues, cups right through to last minute winners for us and against us.

"I’ve had it all, there’s not many who can say that or probably will do, and those are the bits I’ll always have."

He went on to thank various individuals and groups within the club, including Pez, Jonah, Ryan, and Matt, the current and former players, the committee, volunteers, and the loyal fans.

He said: "The committee, Tom, Adam, Ryan and the volunteers, your support has been immeasurable as have the loyal fans, another super bunch of people who just love their club and hometown.

"Stay loud and stay proud because remember without fans and volunteers we’re nothing.

"So for one last time from me... thank you for everything, it’s been an absolute honour."

The club has said that he will be "sorely missed by everyone" and wished him "all the very best in the future."
