CPD Y Rhyl 1879 suffered a 2-1 defeat against league leaders Porthmadog on October 26.
Manager Gareth Thomas aimed to build on a strong second-half performance from the previous week’s JD Welsh Cup exit but was missing key players.
Jordan Worthington was absent due to work commitments, and Jonny Bravo was out with an injury.
However, Casey Faulkner and Jason Foulkes returned to the starting lineup, while Callum Proctor and James Hay made way.
Porthmadog entered the match on a nine-game league winning streak and were looking to bounce back after a recent cup loss.
The team’s top scorer, Tom Hilditch, was on the bench after returning from injury.
Before the match, referee William Gareth Parry led a minute's silence in memory of Robin Williams, the former Vice President of Porthmadog.
The game started quickly as Rhyl took an early lead in the third minute.
Faulkner played a one-two with Dylan Proctor, and Proctor scored from close range, putting Rhyl ahead 1-0.
Another chance in the 14th minute was started by Foulkes, who gave James Stevens a chance to shoot before Sam Ashton fired the rebounded shot wide.
Porthmadog responded with pressure, and in the 43rd minute, they equalised.
Josh Banks delivered a high cross that Danny Brookwell converted, making the score 1-1 at half-time.
The second half began with Porthmadog attacking, but Rhyl had a significant chance in the 53rd minute when Foulkes missed his chance one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Both teams pressed for a winner, but it was Porthmadog who took the lead in the 81st minute.
Brookwell broke free from midfield and left four Rhyl players on the ground, rounding Adam Reid and slotting it in to make it 2-1.
Rhyl fought back in the closing stages, winning a free kick on the edge of the box.
Captain Reece Fairhurst's effort was saved by goalkeeper Oliver Farebrother.
The match ended with Rhyl unable to secure a point and without a win in October.
After the match, Mr Thomas expressed disappointment over missed opportunities.
Rhyl will host Llangefni Town next on November 2 at 2pm.
