KINMEL Bay FC progressed to the next round of the NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup with a 2-1 victory against Meliden on Saturday (August 31).
Tom Wickerson put the Miners ahead five minutes into the match, assisted by Lee Beattie, but 20 minutes later, the Bay equalised when Tate Walker capitalised on a great corner kick delivered by Nyal Hughes.
The teams played fast football in bright sun at the Y Morfa sports centre, with the Miners’ Lee Pierce receiving a red card just before half-time.
Despite being a man down, the Miners did not concede another goal until the 79th minute when the Bay’s Charlie Jones, assisted by Sean Sheridan, drove past the Miners keeper.
