MANICURED grounds at Y Morfa, strong support, refreshments, facilities and a bright day added to a 2-1 win for Kinmel Bay FC on Saturday (August 3).
The Bay, of tier four, saw off Pen-y-Cae from the third tier 2-1 in the FAW Amateur Trophy qualifying round.
The Bay trained pre-match in a MIND kit, supporting the club’s tackling of men’s mental health.
The game itself was close, with fast play on show, but was not until the second half that the Bay’s Dan Wickerson, assisted by Connor Morris, opened the score.
But 10 minutes later, Cae drew level through Osian Williams, assisted by Zac Davies.
The Bay’s winning goal came in the 84th minute when Nyal Hughes assisted sub Tate Walker, who came on in the 62nd minute, to slide a strategic ball past Cae keeper Andrew Parry.
