THE brilliant run just goes on-and-on for Colwyn Bay.
The Seagulls are through to the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup after knocking out back-to-back Cymru Premier League champions Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Bay were well worthy of their 2-0 win at Deeside Stadium following a battling display.
Steve Evans’ side will discover their last four opponents on Monday, with Cymru Premier leaders The New Saints, Bala Town and Penybont also through.
Against Nomads, Bay were penned back in their own half for most of the first half, but Craig Harrison's hosts failed to make the most of their territorial advantage.
The home side were awarded a penalty early in the second half when Lewis Sirrell was adjudged to have handled the ball.
But Andy Coughlin made a fine save to deny Callum Morris from the spot and it proved to be the turning point in the tie.
Two goals in the space of just three minutes from Ryan Edwards and James Kirby put Bay firmly in control, to the delight of the large and noisy away following.
Edwards’ shot from the left side of the area over goalkeeper Oliver Byrne found the top corner of the Nomads' net to give the Bay the lead.
Then, soon after, in-form striker Kirby finished off a driving solo run through the centre with a deflected shot that wrong-footed home keeper Byrne for Bay’s second.
Coughlin, back in the team after missing the previous two league games, made another big save when Declan Poole was through on goal and the Bay held out to secure a place in the semi-finals for the fourth time in their history.
