CAERNARFON Town picked up their second victory of the week with a 2-0 home success over Barry Town United.
The Canaries bounced back in the best possible way following their thumping loss at Penybont last Saturday, picking up two straight triumphs to move back into sixth position in the JD Cymru Premier standings.
Tuesday night’s trip to struggling Aberystwyth Town represents another good chance for Huw Griffiths side to secure some valuable points in their push for a European spot, before the Cofis’ welcome Newton to The Oval on Friday evening.
The visitors almost went ahead on two minutes when Jordan Cotterill spurned a fantastic chance inside the box, with Noah Edwards also going close at the other end with six on the clock.
Town continued to press and created three good chances in quick succession through Sion Bradley, Paulo Mended and Mike Hayes without breaking the deadlock, and a good move from United wasted a pair of chances just before the break through Evan Press and Kayne McLaggon A big turning point arrived after the break when Luke Cooper was sent off for a second bookable offence, but they weathered the storm and would have gone ahead on the hour mark courtesy of McLaggon had it not been for a sensational stop from Josh Tibbetts.
With the home side becoming increasingly frustrated in the closing stages, they finally made their numerical advantage count with 81 gone when former Prestatyn Town striker Jack Kenny came off the bench to fire his side ahead.
This was swiftly followed by another soon after that came from another replacement in Sam Jones, who calmly slotted home after neat approach play in the build-up from talisman Darren Thomas, who was at his brilliant best once again.
