THE North Wales Coast Football Association has outlined plans for a possible season start once they get the green light from the Football Association of Wales.
It is a frustrating time for clubs across the region following the latest lockdown measures suspending the FAW’s return to football initiative, which casts further run certainty about the viability of a 2020/21 campaign at this juncture.
Clubs were informed of the latest developments in an email from the NWCFA, which has suspended all cup competitions associated with the league when competitive action is permitted to resume.
This includes the hugely popular NWCFA Junior Cup, which also failed to come to a successful conclusion last time around following the FAW’s curtailment of remaining fixtures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Intermediate Cup which was being re-introduced for Tier 4 clubs for the new season will not take place.
League officials also highlighted their concerns to member clubs regarding a congested fixture list, if the season does eventually get underway.
Both NWCFA Tier 4 and 5 divisions will be encouraged to arrange fixtures on both Saturdays and Sundays, with evening matches another option for the few with floodlights.
There is no set date as to when any new season can begin, but it doesn’t appear any competitive fixtures will be permitted before the New Year.
