CAERNARFON Town were denied a crucial three points at the death in their 1-1 draw at Haverfordwest County.
The Canaries were looking to get back to winning ways against the newly promoted JD Cymru Premier side and looked well on course for three points, but a stoppage-time goal from the Bluebirds gave them a share of the spoils.
Huw Griffiths’ men now find themselves occupying sixth position in the standings as they get set to welcome Aberystwyth Town to The Oval on Saturday, who come into the contest on the back of an outstanding 2-2 draw against league-leading The New Saints.
Superb defending from Gareth Evans denied the home side a certain opener early on through Cameron Keetch, with Sean Pemberton also spurning a good opportunity during the opening exchanges.
The Cofis’ slowly started to work their way into the contest and carved out their first opening on the quarter-hour mark when Mike Haynes fluffed his lines after good work in the build-up by Noah Edwards.
County went close again soon after when a thumping Elliot Scotcher free-kick coming back off the post with keeper Josh Tibbetts beaten with 25 on the clock.
After the break saw Pemberton waste the best chance of the game when he somehow headed wide from close range on 50 minutes, with Town skipper Joe Williams producing a sensational goal-line clearance to deny Josh Wilson.
Sion Bradley and Darren Thomas failed to make the most out of chances at the other end, but the Canaries finally broke the deadlock on 74 minutes when Paulo Mendes teed up Hayes inside the box, and the experienced forward made no mistake with the finish.
This looked to be enough for the visitors to come away from their trip down south with the bragging rights, but the final attack of the game saw Wilson finally hit the target after he latched onto a Danny Williams delivery to steer past Tibbetts and give both sides something to show for their efforts.
