CAERNARFON Town’s outstanding start to the JD Cymru Premier season continued with a 3-0 win at Cardiff Met.
The Canaries turned in a clinical display in front of the S4C Sgorio cameras to come away from Cyncoed Campus with another three points that leaves them sitting in fourth position and three points behind pacesetting Connah’s Quay Nomads having played a game more.
Huw Griffiths’ men face another busy week of action that begins with a daunting trip to the defending champions on Tuesday, before hosting Cefn Druids at The Oval on Friday night.
Despite travelling to the capital with 15 players due to unavailability, the Cofis’ produced another resolute display with their new-look squad that has hit the ground running so far this term.
Sion Bradley and Louis Augustin both went close for the visitors during the opening exchanges, with Liam Black spurning a fantastic chance at the other end with 11 on the clock.
The home side were given a perfect chance to take the lead when Darren Thomas gave away a penalty, but Elliot Evans’ spot-kick was brilliantly parried to safety by Josh Tibbetts.
This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who got a penalty of their own on the half-hour mark when Sion Bradley was fouled, and the former Porthmadog star dusted himself off to calmly put away the chance to break the deadlock.
Met came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose, but despite dominating possession for long periods they were unable to carve out an opportunity of note thanks to some resolute defending from the Town rearguard.
They were made to pay for this lack of conviction on 83 minutes when Thomas atoned for his earlier error by firing the visitors further ahead following good work from substitute Sam Jones.
There was still time for the visitors to put the exclamation point on proceedings, with Thomas feeding Cai Jones to turn in another opportunity to round off another exceptional performance from the Canaries.
