THE FOOTBALL Association of Wales has confirmed details regarding the 2020/21 domestic transfer window.
The governing body announced on Friday, July 17 that the official dates for the professional registration period for those plying their trade in Tiers 1 and 2 will stat on Monday, July 27.
This will run until Friday, October 16 at midnight, which indicates a significant delay to the start of the current campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Following the opening of the registration period, all JD Cymru Premier, JD Cymru North and JD Cymru South sides can begin to make transfers and register players for their respective clubs.
The dates for the second transfer window, which is normally held in January, are yet to be confirmed and will be “communicated once finalised”.
Clubs across the region have already been announcing new players and re-signings ahead of the move, despite plenty of uncertainty surrounding when exactly it will be safe enough to resume playing.
The English FA received government approval to resume matches from August in a socially distanced setting, which will provide teams across the border with a chance to take part in training sessions and pre-season fixtures prior to the campaign.
Providing there are no setbacks or a second spike in Covid-19 cases before then, grassroots leagues, men’s National League System, Women’s Football Pyramid tiers 3 to 6, and FA Competitions can commence from September.
Nothing has yet been confirmed by the FAW or Welsh government, although clubs are currently permitting to begin training in groups of no more than 30.
