THE FOOTBALL Association of Wales held a further meeting today to discuss the future of the domestic football season.
The governing body took part in a series of video conference sessions with clubs from JD Cymru Premier, North and South, which was led by Andrew Howard and Jonathan Ford.
A majority of JD Cymru North clubs are reportedly in favour of cancelling the season and awarding the title to Prestatyn Town. Some teams hold a different opinion and felt the remaining fixtures should be played, according to a source.
The FAW have extended the season fixture suspension until June 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Journal understands that officials within the organisation will be handing out a questionnaire to each club operating in the top two tiers, which will have four possible outcomes they must vote on.
This includes the cancelling of the season, remaining fixtures played in an “alternative format” and possible ways for a “premature termination” of the campaign.
These are expected to be filled out and completed by Sunday, with the FAW set to come to a final outcome by next Tuesday.
A separate meeting was held in regards to the JD Welsh Cup with the four remaining teams and whether or not the competition can be played.
All league across the country now face a further wait before a final conclusion to the Covid-19 suspension saga is made official.
