THE Football Association of Wales held a meeting last week as they look to come to a final decision regarding the domestic season.
The Journal understands that a video conference was held by the governing body on Friday, April 30, which is the latest in such meetings during the coronavirus pandemic.
Opinions were sought from numerous clubs across the country as to what they think should happen in the immediate and long-term, with various league across the continent already cancelling remaining fixtures.
According to sources, no final decision was made by the FAW following the meeting, leaving the domestic campaign in limbo.
A proposed June start had been issued to JD Cymru Premier, North and South teams, in addition to those operating at third and fourth-tier level.
With current social distancing measures yet to be relaxed by the UK government, it remains to be seen whether these plans can come to fruition in the current climate.
Any cancellation of the season would have significant repercussions on sides such as Connah’s Quay Nomads, Prestatyn Town, Holyhead Hotspur and Denbigh Town, who were all in contention to lift silverware prior to the fixture suspension.
Further down the pyramid, Rhuddlan Town, Llansannan, Llysfaen and The North Football Association are primed for3 a tilt at honours and any expunging of fixtures would see their hopes dashed.
The FAW are set to hold further meetings in the coming days as the look to put a final plan in place in what is an ever-changing situation.
