FOOTBALL across the country will not get back underway until next month at the earliest due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Football Association of Wales announced they have suspended the domestic football fixtures list until Friday, May 15 at the earliest, as social distancing measures relating to Covid-19 remain in place.
The governing body held a meeting last month to “exercise their powers” and extend the 2019/20 season for all National Leagues, National Cup Competitions and the FAW Futsal League.
Documents have been sent to JD Cymru Premier, North and South clubs regarding a possible start date in June and play all fixtures in a short space of time to conclude within the month, as discovered by The Journal last week.
These were sent “in order to find a solution for the resumption of football when it is safe to do so”.
The FAW reminded clubs in a statement they are not covered for any liabilities regarding training sessions during the pandemic, which goes against advice from the UK government.
FAW insurance providers Bluefin, said: “Neither the Countycover Liability insurance package or Personal Accident insurance arranged through the Football Association of Wales will respond to claims if clubs continue to provide sessions which is against the advice of the Government and Governing Body.
"This includes clubs arranging matches, training sessions, friendlies, competitions and tournaments.
"Furthermore, as Personal Accident insurance does not provide cover in respect of Sickness, Disease or Illness, there is no cover for a person contracting COVID-19 whilst playing or training.
"There is an obligation for all officials to take all reasonable precautions to ensure the wellbeing of members and we thank you for your co-operation at this unprecedented time."
