PRESTATYN Town have confirmed the appointment of Leon Field and Ryan Turner as their new management team.
The Seasiders confirmed the news late on Monday evening following an extensive interview process, with the duo arriving at the Motion Finance Stadium from newly promoted Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side Kinmel Bay.
Field and Turner masterminded Bay’s recent resurgence and guided them to a memorable campaign which saw them claim the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title in convincing fashion, in addition to building up the club into a valuable community asset under the leadership of chairman Bill Darwin.
The move represents a significant step up for the management team to the Huws Gray Alliance, and they will now be tasked with completely rebuilding a squad that has lost a huge number of key figures since their relegation from the JD Welsh Premier League.
Field, who has also managed Abergele, said: “It’s a fantastic feeling, but our focus now is pushing on and getting the wheels in motion - getting the lads signed on and training as soon as possible.
“We’re also confident that if we can get a good cup run going, that will bring the feel-good factor back to the club.
“We know we have to hit the ground running. Some of the lads that we’ve identified to come in are of a very high standard, with Cymru Alliance and WPL experience. We’re confident that we can give the fans a lot to cheer about at Bastion Gardens.”
The news comes as a significant blow to an ambitious Bay side, who could now lose some key figures if they are tempted by the test of second tier football by the Town management team.
They will be working closely throughout the recruitment with director of football Dave Fuller, who was promoted from reserve team boss last week.
Turner, added: “We want the lads coming in to feel part of something. We’ve always said this is a family, a community club - and it’s important to get the players to understand that.”
“We have to aim to finish as high as possible, it’s that simple - we’re hoping for at least mid-table. We’re also going to be working very closely with the newly appointed director of football - Dave Fuller - the academy coaches and the club’s young talent.”
