Gareth "Perry" Thomas has left his role as men's first team manager at CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

The club announced his departure, effective immediately, expressing gratitude for his four years of 'tireless dedication' and 'significant successes.'

A spokesperson for the club said: "While recent results have not met our expectations, and as we remain committed to our ambition of securing promotion from the Ardal Northwest League into the Cymru North, we believe that now is the right time to make a managerial change.

"This decision is not made lightly and is aligned with the club’s long-term goal of reaching the top tier of Welsh football."

The club highlighted Mr Thomas's leadership in guiding the team to an unbeaten season, securing both league and cup victories.

He also led the team to two third-place finishes in subsequent campaigns.

The club stated: "Perry’s efforts, both on and off the pitch, will be fondly remembered and deeply appreciated by everyone connected to the club."

The club has already begun the process of looking for Mr Thomas's successor, with an advertisement already posted for the role.

The advertisement outlines the club's ambition and vision for the future, seeking a 'proven winner' with a passion for football and an 'unmatched self-drive'.

The job advertisement continued: "This is your chance to step up to a new challenge.

"Even if it means stepping down a league, the opportunity to lead a club with big ambitions and a bold vision for the future could be the most exciting move of your coaching career.

"We need an experienced football leader who thrives on both tactics and player development.

"As First Team Manager, you’ll organise, communicate, and design high-performance training sessions that drive player growth and deliver match-winning performances.

"Your reputation will attract top talent across North Wales and England, with a strong focus on winning on the pitch and contributing positively off it, enhancing our club and the local community.

"This is a key role in realising our club’s five-year plan.

"Your leadership will be vital in aligning the first team with the club's wider ambitions, driving us towards promotion to the Cymru North and beyond.

"You’ll help us build a platform to compete at the top level of Welsh football, while developing local talent and contributing to the club’s commercial growth—all with the community at the heart of what we do."

The closing date for applications is Monday, November 4 at 5pm.
