CPD Y Rhyl 1879 is on the lookout for a new manager for its women’s team after boss Cassie Thomas chose to leave the club.

Thomas led the club to the second tier of women’s Welsh football during her three years in charge.

The club is already advertising for her replacement ahead of the start of the new 2023-24 season.

A club statement read: “The club would like to put on record our thanks to women’s first team manager, Cassie Thomas, who has decided to make the difficult decision to take a step away from the game to concentrate on her young family.”

Chairman Tom Jamieson added: “I would like to personally thank Cassie for her hard work and dedication to the role.

“During her three years at the club, we have seen phenomenal success, securing promotion to tier two of Welsh women’s football. Cassie will be sadly missed by all at CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

“In readiness for the start of the 2023-24 season in September, we will take the opportunity to secure a successor for Cassie to follow on from the great work achieved.

“Further details to follow in due course.”
