AN EVENT aiming to support residents of Rhyl through the cost of living crisis will be held in the town next month.

Taking place at Rhyl Rugby Club on June 7 from 10am until 4pm, it has been organised by “Adferiad Recovery”, a user and carer-led organisation providing a broad range of individualised services.

It is part of the organisation’s “Time To Take Control” summer campaign, and is one of 23 such events that have been arranged to support it.

Refreshments will also be provided at the event, while the mayor of Rhyl, Cllr Jacquie McAlpine, will be attending and giving a speech.

Many professionals will also be present, including those from Shelter, Rhyl Job Centre, North Wales Police, and Community Music Wales, who will be performing hand-drumming and singing for mindfulness sessions in one of plenty of activities.

An Adferiad Recovery spokesperson said: “Time to Take Control is our main campaign this year.

“We are calling for action by the UK and Welsh Governments, local authorities, NHS, and others to support our client group through a 10-point plan.

“This aspect of the campaign will mainly be taken forward by head office, but our local services should keep clients and others informed and we will advise further on how local services and clients can support the 10-point plan.

“The campaign will also involve Adferiad providing practical and personal support so that people can take control of their own situation and navigate their path through the crisis and beyond.

“This support will mainly be delivered by our local services with help from head office and from our money advice and Cyfle Cymru services.

“We will be co-operating with partner organisations including Carers Wales and the St Giles Trust, as well as working closely with the Department for Work and Pensions.

“The campaign also offers an opportunity to showcase and promote our local and national services and to expand our membership.”
