EACH year, the Urdd sends a message from the children of Wales to the children of the world, a Message of Peace and Goodwill.
First sent in 1922, the messages relay wishes and hopes for the future of the world and humanity.
This year’s message is about promoting the Equality for Girls and Women.
Geraint Rowe, acting deputy headteacher, said: "All the children in Ysgol Llywelyn have learnt about the importance of equality between boys and girls from, challenging misconceptions and stereotypes of who can do what job to the importance of Children’s Rights and free choice and fairness.”
Macie, pupil, said: "We have learnt that as girls and women we can do anything we want to, we can do any job we decide to do in the future and be strong and decisive.”
Zara, also a pupil at the Rhyl school, said: "It also works both ways, it’s important that as girls want to be fire-fighters, boys can be nurses, there are no gender specific jobs.”
Discussing the Urdd’s message, pupil Emilia said: “It’s great to know that Wales and the children of Wales through the Urdd sends these messages to the children of the world, standing together for our rights and for a better future.”
Jasmine said: "We have also sent these messages along with a video by the children of Wales to our partner schools in Norway, Denmark and Portugal. It’s great to know, even as a small country we have a strong voice.”
