WITH the Borders Road-Running League and North Wales Cross-Country League almost here, Prestatyn Running Club's prospects look brighter than for some time, with several new recruits already making an impression.
The fourth and final race in Deestriders' Off-Road Grand Prix saw 11 members - new and old - pick up awards.
Among them was Eve Manifold, who wasn't even a club member for the first couple of races but finished second on aggregate in the senior ladies' category.
Her friend Meg Lewis, another new recruit, was third.
The other award winners were: Men under 20: 1 Oliver Birch-Jones.
Men over 40: 1 (equal) Dave Ellis, 3 Gareth Jones.
Men over 45: 1 Steve Stocker. Men over 70: 1 Martin Cortvriend.
Men over 75: 1 Mike Davis, 2 Steve Hatfield.
Ladies over 50: 3 Jo Lewis.
Ladies over 60: 3 Julie Evans.

Meanwhile, three members travelled to Thurstaston for the second race in the Wirral Multi-Terrain Series, the course including sections of the beach.
Marc Jones was 99th overall in 37.40, and was followed by Ann Claire Jones (164, 41.52) and Cara Jones (214, 45.18).
Four days later, both Marc and Ann Claire set PBs in their respective parkruns, which was just the start of another busy weekend for Ann Claire.
Just a few hours after her Parkrun she ran the King John's Castle fell-race from Llanarmon-yn-Ial, coming 28th overall in 60.06.
Then, on Sunday, she won her L50 age-group in the 11.5k Llyn Alwen trail race, clocking 60.06. In the same event Jamie Betts was 6th in 49.11, while Helen Alefounder did the cani-race over the same course, finishing 18th in 74.42.
24 hours earlier, Helen had joined the masses in Britain's first and largest parkrun in London's Bushy Park where, despite finishing in a highly creditable 28.21, came 826th.
Four members also represented the club in Sunday's Guilden Sutton 10k, one of the oldest road races in the area.
Andy Parry was the first of the quartet, coming 62nd in 40.57, with Steve Weedman 98th in 46.49, Andy Clark 150th in 55.58 and Debbie Weedman 160th in 59.39.
