CANYON Wilson of Prestatyn Running Club travelled much further afield last week, joining the large field in the world's oldest marathon in Boston.
It's acknowledged as being a tough course, but Canyon ran a brilliantly even-paced race to finish in 2:55:25.
And a week after being Prestatyn Running Club's first finisher in the Llandudno 5k, Alex "Easy" Ryder was again in great form in Saturday's Nova parkrun.
He made his intention clear from the start, quickly opening a substantial lead over the chasing pack, and despite a strong headwind on the home section maintained his advantage throughout.
Alex finished in 18.25, with clubmate Steve Skates second but more than a minute behind.
Placings: 1 Alex Ryder 18.25, 2 Steve Skates 19.39, 11 Steve Weedman 23.00, 14 James Rogers 23.30, 45 Debbie Weedman 31.14, 48 Linda Friar 31.34, 57 Roger Harrison-Jones 33.50, 80 Julie Evans (Tailwalker) 60.11.

Meanwhile, on his travels once again - this time in Northern Ireland - Martin Cortvriend set another M70 course record of 20.56 in the Knockbracken Parkrun.
Other parkrun results: Conwy: 48 Martin Gill 23.53, 66 Andrew Scott 25.07, 166 Geoff Worsley 34.52.
Greenfield Valley: 6 Dave Ellis 21.27, 20 Steve Brown 25.28, 25 Ann Claire Jones 26.07, 38 Helen Alefounder 28.22.
Steve Brown maintained his 100 per cent attendance in the Tuesday night fell-race series, the latest being the most testing yet, the Four Hills race above Penmaenmawr.
He finished 95th in 55.31, with Julia Evans six placed behind in 59.11.
Elsewhere, there is no such thing as an easy half-marathon, but three hardy club members took on a particularly challenging 13-miler on Sunday.
Des Davies, Helen Ashworth and Ally Reid competed in the Sea2Summit race which started near the Nova in Prestatyn and finished on Moel Famau - and as most runners in the region know, some of the Clwydian Hills are not as gentle as they look from the vale.
The results were not known at the time of going to press.
Meanwhile, at the annual meeting of the North Wales Cross-Country Association, the following provisional fixtures for the 2022-23 season were agreed:
October 1, Bangor, Shrewsbury; October 22, Newtown; November 26, Whitford; January 14 or 21, Colwyn Bay (Eirias Park); February 11, Oswestry.
The North Wales championships will be held in Wrexham on January 7.
