THE penultimate race in this year’s Borders Road-Running League in Tattenhall on Sunday (April 10) produced the season’s best result for Prestatyn Running Club’s men.
Five of them finished in the top 100, with Andrew Bromley again the top performer.
The race also marked a return to club action for Amie Bagnall since she joined Cheshire Dragons as a first-claim club.
She had an excellent run, but sadly the only other lady to turn out was the ever-reliable Liz Martin.
The overall positions were: 22 Andrew Bromley, 31 Alex Ryder, 33 Ben Williams, 47 Amie Smith, 68 John Simpson, 69 Steve Stocker, 124 Martin Cortvriend, 155 James Rogers, 162 Darren Thompson, 184 Andrew Scott, 195 Matty Smith, 198 Steve Brown, 226 Liz Martin.

Only 24 hours earlier, James Rogers had covered 58 laps – or 15 miles – of the Treborth track in Bangor in support of the 24-hour Run For Ukraine fundraiser organised by Cybi Striders.
The club’s ladies were also out in force for the Aber Bach fell-race last week, the second in the Tuesday night series.
Off-road captain Steve Brown led the group home, finishing 91st overall, and he was followed by Sophie Johnson (100), Ann Claire Jones (101), Liz Martin (102), Mandy Cartwright (111), Cara Jones (112) and Julia Evans (113).
In the opening fixture at Moel Tryfan, Fron, the previous week, Steve came 88th and Helen Alefounder 107th.
There was a smaller turnout than usual in the weekend’s parkruns, possibly because of the Border League race the following day.
