PRESTATYN residents enjoyed some festive fun today (November 29) as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
The lights were switched on by the cast of the Cinderella pantomime based at Rhyl's Pavilion Theatre this Christmas, at 4.20pm, which came after an afternoon of entertainment in the town centre.
Enjoy the moment the town was lit up in the below video:
Led by the town cryer as compere, the switch-on event featured performances from Ysgol Clawdd Offa, Prestatyn High School, Ysgol Melyd, Ysgol Y Llys, Ysgol Penmorfa, and Ysgol Bodnant.
Also performing were MIND Music, Choir CEG, Jack, Morgan Jade, and members of Rhyl's Little Theatre.
Children could also visit Santa's Grotto, and take part in a Christmas "sketch and draw competition".
This weekend (November 30 and December 1), Prestatyn’s Winter Fest will take place for the second time; a two-day “extravaganza” to be based on the town’s High Street.
The main events on each day will take place between 10am and 4pm, with the aim of the event to “encourage shopping local”, shining a light on the town’s business owners and their services.
It has been organised by Prestatyn Town Council and Prestatyn Business Forum.
Market stalls and craft marquees will be focused around the vicarage, and there will be a selection of food and drink stalls.
Meanwhile, cadets will be keeping children entertained with various games and activities, and there will also be a small fairground.
Children can also pet, feed and have their photograph taken with a Shetland pony at Winter Fest.
