FORMER footballer and manager Gordon Strachan was spotted in a pub in Prestatyn earlier this week.

Strachan, 67, who played for Manchester United and managed the Scottish national team, visited HQ Pencadlys, on Gronant Road, on Monday (November 18).

HQ Pencadlys shared the above photo on Tuesday of Strachan in the pub, adding: “Great to see Gordan Strachan in the pub yesterday! A Man Utd and Scotland footballing legend.”

Jake Reddaway, of HQ Pencadlys, added: “He came in on Monday afternoon, and was chatting with our owner, Dominic Senger, about sports, and the renovations that have been recently completed to the pub.

“He was talking about his sporting career with all the teams that he played for, and sent an email thanking us for the hospitality, and went on to say how accommodating and friendly all of the staff were.”

Currently technical director at Dundee, Strachan managed Coventry City, Southampton, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Scotland between 1996 and 2017.

He won 50 caps for his country in his playing career, during which he represented Dundee, Aberdeen, Manchester United, Leeds United and Coventry City.

Strachan was also appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1993 New Year Honours in recognition of his services to football.
