A COMMUNITY group in Rhyl is to help provide Christmas dinners to those less fortunate this winter.
Rhyl Wings Projects will host an event at Rhyl Foodbank, on Sussex Street, from 11am on December 24.
The group is made up of “local people that try and go the extra mile to spread the Christmas spirits and help people in need in the local area”.
This year, it is working alongside Rhyl Foodbank in preparing and providing Christmas dinners, based on a referral basis.
To raise some funds for its Christmas Eve event, the group will be holding an online raffle, and is looking for donations and raffle prizes, as well as new and used toys.
Last year’s event attracted more than 2,000 people and raised in excess of £3,000 for various charities.

Rhyl Wings Projects said: “We will also have Santa meeting the children and giving presents to those in need.
“This will still happen on Christmas Eve, but will be on a token-only small event in Rhyl.
“Last year, we topped the footfall of people and we had a amazing turnout, and raised just under £3,000, which we then distributed back into the local community, the children's ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital, and local football clubs to name a couple.
“We would just like to say a massive thank you to those who have helped and donated over the years and for all your continued support. We couldn't do it without you.”
Contact can be made with the group via its Facebook page, or donations can be left at drop-off points at The Pitstop Mobile Catering on Howdens Yard, or the Retropeek shop on Water Street.
