Parts of Conwy and Denbighshire’s public websites were unexpectedly unavailable to use this week.
Both Conwy County Council and Denbighshire County Council use third-party software from an external company to run the part of their websites documenting agendas, reports, and minutes.
But without warning, Conwy and Denbighshire said both sites were temporarily unavailable due to ‘maintenance’ on Thursday (November 7).
A spokeswoman for Conwy County Council commented: “The Modern Gov software system which manages on-line access to the Council’s Committee agendas, reports and minutes is temporarily unavailable due to essential maintenance being undertaken by the provider.”
A spokesman for Denbighshire County Council also explained.
He said: “To clarify, the council’s corporate website has not experienced any issues and has been functional for customer use all day.
“Some of the website content relating to local democracy is produced using an externally provided specialist software system, used by many local authorities throughout the UK. Notification was received today from the software supplier that the system would be temporarily unavailable.
"We are awaiting further information as to when the system will be operational again.”
