HALLOWEEN maybe over, but you can still celebrate all things spooky at macabre-themed market event this weekend

The North Wales Macabre Market will take place on Saturday, November 9, at the Front Room in Rhyl, the brainchild of friends Katie Daly and Lynne Stevens.

It's a great opportunity to support local makers, and pick up a unique Christmas gift for the alternative people in your life.

Both Katie and Lynne are also the founders of North Wales Alternatives, a Facebook group that caters to the alternative scene in North Wales.

The group saw its membership surge to more than a thousand in a few short weeks.

Asked what fired their drive to organise this unusual event, they said: "We felt there was a lot lacking in North Wales as a whole on the alternative scene.

"After attending events such as Liverpool Bizarre, we thought maybe an alternative market could be a possibility if there were enough people in the area."

They weren't certain initially about the response and that's how North Wales Alternatives came into being.

"We wanted to see how large the community really was," they added.

"With the group growing in numbers daily, it has blown us away by how vast it really is!"

Many local artists, crafters and small businesses have signed up to trade at the market, including Hellbound Media, Meg Sajko, The Voodoo Doctor's Shop, SkellyTones, and many more.

Katie and Lynne are already mulling over the idea of making the macabre market a biannual event if the first one is successful.

Additionally, there are possible plans to organise social events under the North Wales Alternatives group.

They are ecstatic about the positive response from the community.

In their words, they added: "We've been blown away by not only how big the community really is but also how supportive everyone is, of one another."

The event creators are astounded by the sheer number of people who are interested in attending the event and businesses that want to trade there.

The pair also acknowledged the support from notable figures like the Rhyller Thriller organisers Chad Jones and Tomos Rowlands, and Steve Rastin of Front Room and Hex Events, who has been instrumental in securing the venue for the event.

The North Wales Macabre Market takes place at Rhyl's Front Room on Saturday, November 9, 11am - 4pm.
