Rhyl Library has been selected to host a national writing workshop.

The library was victorious in the All Stories national competition, earning a fully-funded writing workshop aimed at supporting aspiring writers from underrepresented backgrounds.

The workshop, set for 2pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024, will provide participants with an introduction to writing for children.

There is no requirement for prior knowledge of publishing or a history of written work.

The workshop will welcome individuals from all underrepresented backgrounds.

To further nurture talent from the area, a writing group will be established at Rhyl Library.

A 'writer resources' pack, filled with information about supportive writing organisations, will also be made available to workshop participants and other visitors to the library after the event.

Eloise Williams, an award-winning Welsh author, will present the workshop.

Denbighshire County Council's principal librarian, Deborah Owen, said: "We are excited to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity for local writers to embrace their creativity, and work with an established author in a writing workshop which explores writing for children."

This workshop is one of 16 All Stories workshops being held across the UK and is made possible with funding from Arts Council England, Inclusive Books for Children and the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society.
