A GENEROUS donation of £350 has been presented to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd’s critical care unit in memory of a late father-of-three from Prestatyn.

Robin Williams died of cancer aged 38 in July 2023, less than two weeks after he first saw a doctor about symptoms he had developed.

To support the unit at the Bodelwyddan hospital, which treated Robin prior to his death, representatives of Prestatyn Town Football Club and its sister team, Bow, presented the money on Monday (October 28).

The money had been raised from a “fun day” held at Bastion Gardens, home of Prestatyn Town, in August.

Callum Headland, a coach at Bow FC, said: “We as a club wanted to donate this money to the critical care unit because the effort they put in every single minute of every single day is incredible.

“Without their assistance, Robin would have passed away much, much quicker.

“We donated £350 to the unit, which is going to go toward building spaces for the patients to go for a bit of breathing space.

“We have future events planned in aid of raising even more money.”

The money was presented to critical care unit ward sister Simone by both Callum and James Benbow, chairman of Prestatyn Town.

Relatives of Robin were also in attendance.

An online fundraiser page, set up after Robin’s death by his brother, Christopher, to support funeral costs and living expenses for his family, raised nearly £5,500.

Born and raised in Llanasa, Robin attended Ysgol Penmorfa and Prestatyn High School, before installing gas and electricity meters for a living.

A staunch Everton supporter, those attending his funeral wore royal blue in recognition of his love for the club.
