A PUMPKIN-picking event was held for children at a school in Abergele last week.
Ysgol Glan Morfa organised the free event, on Friday, October 25, with North Wales Police representatives and Abergele’s deputy mayor, Cllr Tracey Brennan, also in attendance.
More than 300 pumpkins were collected on the night.

Louise Williams, chair of Ysgol Glan Morfa’s PTA, said the event was organised “with the view of making it inclusive, so that all children were able to take part”.
She added: “We couldn’t have made this idea possible without the support of headmaster Hugh Williams and North Wales Police, who gave us £125 towards the cost of the pumpkins.
“We also had a huge amount of pumpkins donated to us from Tesco in Abergele, and the local Co-op stores.
“We have had an incredible amount of support as always from Manorafon Farm Park, who helped us with props and character costumes, which helped really bring the event to life. They also donated pumpkins.
“All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and seeing all of their happy faces made all of the hard work of collecting 320 pumpkins and getting them to the school all worth it.”
