A RENEWED appeal has been made for information following the death of a 69-year-old woman from Rhyl last week.

Dean Mears, 33, of Bodelwyddan Avenue, Kinmel Bay has been charged with the murder of Catherine Flynn following an incident on the evening of October 24 on Cefndy Road.

He has also been charged with burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 25-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, but has since been bailed.

North Wales Police said: “Following the incident last Thursday evening, officers will once again be active in the Cefndy Road area this afternoon, talking to residents and anyone passing through in order to gain as much information as possible.

“Whilst you may see an increased police presence, there is no need for concern and we would like to thank the local community for their patience and support whilst we conduct these vital enquiries.

Mears has been remanded in custody, and is due to enter pleas to his charges on February 7, 2025.

Should he plead not guilty, a provisional trial start date has been set for April 29, 2025.
