The CPD Y Rhyl 1879 Under-9s Girls' football team recently hosted a tournament.

The small-sided 'round robin' event, part of the North Wales Girls' Football League, took place on Saturday, October 26.

In line with guidelines from the Football Association of Wales, small-sided football features reduced team sizes, pitches, and goals to offer a 'more engaging and accessible' experience for young players.

Teams from Conwy, Penrhyn Bay, and Ogwen all attended.

A spokesperson for the club said: "CPD Y Rhyl 1879 U9 girls showed great character and team spirit throughout the tournament.

"Celebrating each goal as a team and working hard for one and another.

"They demonstrated selfless commitment and determination during each match, constantly working together and never giving up.

"The latter coincides with the clubs ethos ‘ildiwn Ni Fyth’ which translates to ‘We Will Never Give Up’."

After the 'round-robin', the girls were treated to a team-building meal at Pizza Hut, which was funded through the efforts of parents, coaches, and the club.

A spokesperson for the club said: "CPD Y Rhyl 1879 is a community club that uses football to promote a healthy lifestyle, learn life skills such as teamwork, discipline and focus, resilience and perseverance, self confidence and much more, all whilst playing a sport they love.

"The coaches volunteer a great deal of their own time to help girls of all ages learn and develop their football skills.

"By creating a positive and supportive environment, these coaches inspire a love for the game and promote a strong sense of fair play and respect among all players.

"Their dedication not only improves each child’s abilities but also contributes to their personal development and wellbeing."

CPD Y Rhyl U9 girls are currently looking to recruit goalkeepers, if your child is interested please contact the club through its Facebook page to arrange a trial.
