A PROVISIONAL trial date has been set for a Kinmel Bay man accused of murdering a 69-year-old woman.
Dean Mears, of Bodelwyddan Avenue, appeared before Mold Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Tuesday, October 29.
A day earlier, he made his first appearance in court, where he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing.
The 33-year-old has been charged with the murder of Catherine Flynn, as well as with aggravated burglary.
That came after North Wales Police officers attended a property on Cefndy Road after being called at 10.30pm on October 24.
Mrs Flynn subsequently died in hospital.
Mears was arrested at an address in Kinmel Bay later that evening “following extensive enquiries involving a number of police resources at several properties in the area”.
Today (October 29), he appeared via video-link from HMP Berwyn before Judge Rhys Rowlands at Mold Crown Court.
