A JACKET which belonged to a popular character on Coronation Street has been sold at a charity shop in Prestatyn.
The red jacket pictured was worn by Vera Duckworth, played by actor Liz Dawn, who appeared on the show in more than 2,000 episodes from 1978 to 2010.
Remarkably, the jacket could be found at the Life & Soul Veteran Aid, on Marine Road.
The charity opened last year and raises money for Woody’s Lodge North Wales, which is based in Colwyn Bay.
Woody’s Lodge provides support to veterans, and gives them a chance to meet up and meet friends old and new.
Jane Perkins, a director alongside David Cleave, David Lomas and manager Carol Lomas, said the item first came into their hands from someone who had “held onto it for many years”.
The red jacket was believed to be used in an episode of Corrie where Vera and husband Jack visit an art gallery, with an accompanying picture of its use on the show – as well as a certificate of authenticity.
Available for offers above £40, the treasured item was recently sold to a “mad Corrie fan” who returned to the shop to purchase the jacket.
Ms Perkins told The Journal: “This came in as a donation from a lady who I believe also bought it in an auction and held onto it for many years.
“It was great as, as well as the jacket, it came with a photo of herself and Jack Duckworth whilst she was wearing it.
“I believe this was worn in filming for the episode when they were visiting the art gallery. There was also a certificate of authenticity.
“This was sold to a lovely local couple, and the husband especially was a mad Corrie fan and was delighted with it.
“He was in two minds whilst in the shop and left saying he would think about it.

“As soon as he arrived home he messaged me immediately to say he had to have it. It has definitely been a talking point in the shop.
“We have been extremely lucky and blessed with some amazing donations.”
As well as Coronation Street vintage, a gold disc Elvis Presley limited edition memorabilia picture, one of only 100 made, was donated to the store.
“Every day is different and we never know what will come through the door next,” Ms Perkins said.
“And the best thing of all is that through all the fabulous donations we can help in supporting our amazing veterans and their families which is the reason why we opened the shop in the first place.”
