BETSI Cadwaladr Health Board are looking at changing the way they review planning applications across north Wales.
The health board came under criticism earlier this year for failing to oppose to developments in Wrexham.
With the current pressures faced by health services across north Wales, calls were made for them to object rather than put themselves under more stress.
Concerns were also raised after they failed to seek any payments from a controversial 600-home development plan off Holt Road.
However health chiefs have confirmed that they are currently exploring ways to improve the way it reviews planning applications.
Dyfed Edwards, Chair of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, said: “The Health Board is currently in the early stages of exploring ways to improve the way it reviews planning applications and identifies opportunities for developer contributions to mitigate the impact of large housing developments on local health services.
"As part of this process, we are also engaging with our local authority partners on smaller developments, acknowledging the need to respond appropriately to planning applications that may cumulatively impact on health services across the region.”
