Police were called at 10.30pm to a residential property on Cefndy Road; a 69-year-old woman was subsequently taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
The man was arrested at an address in Kinmel Bay, while a 25-year-old woman was arrested at a residential property in Rhyl on suspicion of assisting an offender.

"There will be an increased police presence at several addresses in the Rhyl area in the coming days, but please be assured there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.
