An inclusive performing arts group has been praised for its showcase event.

Work in Progress, from Rhyl, held their second public sharing event at Theatr Twm o’r Nant in Denbigh on October 12.

The performance featured drama, music, dance, poetry, sign language, and the spoken word.

'Highlights' of the event included a rendition of 'A Thousand Years' sang by two members of the group, while the rest of the company performed the song in BSL, and the whole group sang a 'beautiful rendition' of 'When Your Feet Don’t Touch the Ground'.

Audience members were also involved, celebrating with glow sticks during the finale performance of 'Kaleidoscope'.

Toby Fagan, chairman of Work in Progress, and artistic director Leslie Churchill Ward, said: "Our sharing was a huge success.

"It was thrilling for Work in Progress members to perform alongside the visiting guest artists they had worked with throughout the year.

"We are buzzing with excitement and have already begun work on our next sharing.

"We have exciting plans for 2025."

At the end of the performance, all participants and guest artists were presented with trophies while getting a 'rousing applause'.

The audience feedback for the event was 'overwhelmingly positive'.

One attendee wrote: "I think what Work in Progress is doing is so important.

"Opening discussions about mental health and supporting each other is essential to the community."

Another said: "The event left me with an overwhelming sense of joy and wonder at what people can achieve."

Work in Progress places a focus on positive mental health and well-being.

A group member said: "After joining Work in Progress, my mental health has improved.

"To be a part of a group that has no judgements means I can finally be myself, and love who I am.

"Now I can fully express myself and be proud of everything I have accomplished."

The group's tagline says that 'We are all a Work in Progress,' and that 'Together we can do so much.'

The 'many positive reviews and comments' received during and after the Sharing show that 'this philosophy is working.'
