FOOTAGE has been shared showing the moment a woman “flew off” a drink-driver’s car bonnet and onto a road in Rhyl.
Glen Wilson, 30, of Llys Y Castell, Kinmel Bay, was jailed for a year on October 22 at Mold Crown Court, where he was told he “could have killed” Lisa Dutton.
Ms Dutton was left “aching all over” following the incident, which happened on Cefndy Road shortly after 12.25am on September 26.
The below footage, provided by the Crown Prosecution Service and played in court, shows Wilson crashing into a traffic calming island and a lamppost.
Ms Dutton had climbed on to his car bonnet to try to stop him from drink-driving - prosecutor Michael Whitty told the court that the two had been drinking together that evening.
Wilson then shouted at Ms Dutton before driving away – following his arrest, he gave a roadside breath test which showed he was almost twice the legal alcohol limit.
Judge Niclas Parry, who sentenced Wilson, told him: “That lady was trying to help you. She was trying to save you from yourself. You could have killed her.
“I’ve seen people in this court put their hands to their faces upon watching this CCTV, as your victim flew off that car.”
