AN AWARD-winning cheese shop on Prestatyn’s High Street has come under new ownership.

The Little Cheesemonger, which opened in 2017 and is known for its wide selection of artisan cheeses, has been sold by founder Gemma Williams to new owners.

Gemma is joining her family’s business as marketing manager at Ty’n Rhyl, a 500-year-old building known as the town’s “oldest house”, which now runs as a bed and breakfast on Vale Road.

“The annual ‘cheese judging’ competitions have also been a highlight, although they can be very serious!

“The new owners' love for food, wine, and especially cheese, was the first indicator that this transition would go well."

The new owners are wasting no time, meanwhile, diving straight into preparations for the busy Christmas season.

Long-term staff member Dawn Hughes will also be remaining at the store, meanwhile.

“They’ve already planned three cheese-tasting events for October, November, and December, so the community has a lot to look forward to.

“We’ve always had a loyal customer base because of our human connection to the people who visit the shop.

“We’ve built relationships with local families, and we weren’t just a fancy cheese shop—we were a part of the community.

“It’s exciting to bring my experience from the cheese shop into this new venture, and I’ll also be involved in the restaurant and bed and breakfast operations.”
