A WOMAN from Abergele is to have her head shaved next month in aid of a charity close to her heart.
Debbie Fretwell, who is manager of Abergele Community Shop, will take part in the charity head-shave along with her friend, Lucy Draper, at A Cut Above barbers on Market Street at 2pm on November 30.
She has decided to “brave the shave” in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, the UK’s leading cancer care charity, and has already raised more than £500: bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/9342059c-c313-46be-a4f1-d30a62f47b27.
“My family has been affected (by cancer) in many ways,” Debbie said.
“Most recently, my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer. So, I decided to do something big to raise awareness and funds along with my friend, Lucy.
“So far, I have raised £570 in three days, so not bad going! I had an initial target of £300, so I’m chuffed to have almost doubled it.”
