GIRLGUIDING units based in Rhyl may have to discontinue unless new volunteers can be found.
Naomi Whitham, 45, is a leader of both 8th Rhyl Guides and 1st Rhyl Rangers, but is having to give up volunteering due to work commitments.
She is appealing for others to help carry on running the units, which meet on Tuesdays at The United Church in Rhyl.
A Girlguiding leader since the age of 18, Naomi said: “It’s unfortunate, because the kids are wonderful. It’s just that everyone’s lives have caught up with them.
“All of the units in Rhyl could do with some help - without volunteers, we’re going to end up without anybody.
“We’re the last Guides in Rhyl - there used to be 11 Guides groups.”
Girlguiding is split into Rainbows (five-to-seven-year-olds), Brownies (seven-to-10-year-olds), Guides (10-to-14-year-olds), and Rangers (14-to-19-year-olds).

Naomi added: “Ideally, we need at least three (volunteers), but there’s just me at the moment. I’m quite happy to stick around, though, and support the people coming in.
“Working with young people is really rewarding. You get a new insight into how the next generation thinks and functions.
“They’re a wonderful group; they really give teenagers a good name. It’s fun and exciting, and it relives a bit of your childhood - it’s a really good way to spend time, and to give back to the community
“I can’t run it by myself, and I just have so much work to do that I can’t carry it on myself. It would be such a shame if it closes.”
