Almost 20 volunteers from Towyn's Ty Mawr Holiday Park joined the Great British Beach Clean.

The event, organised by the Marine Conservation Society, took place between September 20 and 29.

Thousands of volunteers across the UK participated in this coastal clean-up.

In Wales alone, 14 bags of litter were collected, weighing a total of 1.5kg.

The data collected from this event helps the Marine Conservation Society, the UK's leading ocean membership charity, with its conservation work.

Ty Mawr Holiday Park, owned by Parkdean Resorts, was one of 22 parks across England, Scotland, and Wales that took part in the clean-up.

More than 250 volunteers collected a total of 302kg of litter during the 23 beach and inland cleans.

"Initiatives like this support our commitment to caring for our parks, people, and planet, while also giving back to our local communities.

"We will continue to work hard throughout the year to keep our surrounding areas clean and inviting for the community along with the millions of holidaymakers who visit our parks every year."

Clare Trotman, beachwatch officer at the Marine Conservation Society, said: "We are grateful for Parkdean Resorts’ support in organising many events as part of this year’s Great British Beach Clean.

"By holding beach cleans around the UK, they will help us to collect data from our beaches on what litter is polluting our seas.

"Without our volunteers heading down to the beach to collect and record litter, we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do.

"Their hard work allows us to campaign for a healthier, better protected ocean."

Ty Mawr Holiday Park, one of 66 parks owned by Parkdean Resorts, was recently awarded the highest possible rating following a quality assessment from Visit Wales.

The park retained its ‘Excellent’ five-star accreditation from the last inspection in 2022 and secured a prestigious TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for the first time in early 2024.
