Denbighshire-based mental health charity Vale of Clwyd Mind is set to host a unique fundraising event.

The 'Mind Over Matter' fire walk will see participants walking over coals heated to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is to symbolise the strength of mental resilience over physical challenges.

The event is open to all adults aged 18 and above.

It is scheduled to take place on November 21 at Rhyl Rugby Club, with registration beginning at 6pm.

Participants will undertake a training session before embarking on the fiery walk.

This will be accompanied by the sounds of a carefully curated playlist, featuring tracks like Jerry Lee Lewis' 'Great Balls of Fire' and Alicia Keys' 'Girl on Fire'.

Vale of Clwyd Mind has supported more than 3,700 Denbighshire residents with their mental health struggles in the past year.

However, as demand for their services continues to rise, they are faced with reduced contract funding.

This fundraiser is therefore crucial to enable the charity, a local branch of the national mental health organisation Mind, to continue its vital work.

The charity has already secured sponsorship from organisations including Harley & Clarke Construction, and Stability IT Support.

Zack Wilkes from Stability IT, who is also participating in the event, said: "I wanted to take part and raise money for mental health due to the struggles I have gone through with mental health and still do.

"It can be a difficult challenge every day, but having people and resources to reach out to, can make a massive difference and I want to support the work Vale of Clwyd Mind does for the community."

Numbers for the event are limited but those who wish to participate can register on the Vale of Clwyd Mind’s website.

People are also encouraged to donate to strengthen the charity's support for Denbighshire residents.
