PRESTATYN Town Football Club’s manager has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

Chris Morrell notified the club of his decision yesterday (October 6), little more than a month since stepping into the role.

Morrell replaced Matty Roberts in late August after the latter's resignation.

The club said that the process of appointing his replacement "won't be rushed", and that it was looking for a long-term manager.

A statement from Prestatyn Town FC chairman James Benbow said: "As a club we are saddened to hear this afternoon that Chris Morrell wanted to leave his role at Prestatyn Town FC.

"We believed that we had found a manager that had long-term ambitions for the club, but this sadly wasn’t to be.

"We wish Chris all the best in whatever role he takes up next.

"We have already been contacted by managers and coaches who are wanting to potentially take charge - as a club we won’t be rushed into announcing a new manager.

"We will find a manager who wants long term commitment and wants to grow the youth setup and still have great back room staff who will take control for the time being."

The Seasiders are currently bottom of the Cymru North, with two wins and seven losses from nine games.
