A GIANT inflatable bowel will be coming to Rhyl and Kinmel Bay later this month to help raise awareness of bowel cancer.
Bowel Cancer UK is inviting residents to walk inside a giant inflatable bowel when it tours the town in October.
The giant inflatable bowel measures 19ft by 17ft - about the same size as a family campervan - and is an interactive experience to demonstrate the various stages of bowel cancer.
A walk through the bowel will help raise awareness of bowel cancer symptoms, the importance of taking part in screening, and good bowel health.
More than 2,300 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in Wales – it is the country’s fourth-most common cancer.
The disease is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early.
You can join Bowel Cancer UK’s awareness roadshow on:
- Tuesday, October 15 from 10am–4pm outside Sainsbury’s, Rhuddlan Road, Rhyl.
- Wednesday, October 16 from 10am–4pm outside Asda, St Asaph Avenue North, Kinmel Bay.
- Thursday, October 17 from 10am–4pm outside Asda, St Asaph Avenue North, Kinmel Bay.
Genevieve Edwards, chief executive at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “We’re really looking forward to talking to lots of people in Rhyl about the disease, the importance of knowing its symptoms, and why you should contact your GP as soon as you spot any signs.
“We'll be encouraging everyone who is eligible to take part in bowel cancer screening, and talking about how people can reduce their risk of developing bowel cancer.
“We know that awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms is quite low in Rhyl, so we hope our giant inflatable bowel is a fun way to break the ice and start having those lifesaving conversations.
“We’re here to welcome everyone to a tour of the giant inflatable bowel, answer any questions you have about your bowel health, and signpost you for further support. No appointment necessary. See you inside!”
