A CAR park in Rhyl will close for four months as the council looks to cut energy and security costs.

Rhyl Central car park, an underground site on the town's seafront, will close over the winter.

The near-500 space car park will close on October 31 and remain shut over the winter, with the site not set to reopen until March 1.

The council said this was to "assist" with money-saving costs regarding energy and security spending.

A spokesperson for Denbighshire County Council said: "Rhyl Central car park will close on the 31st October for the season and re-open on the 1st March 25.

"This will assist with saving money on energy and security costs.”

The move follows the closure of the SeaQuarium in November 2023, the temporary closure of the SC2 waterpark due to storm damage, and continued delays to the return of Rhyl's Skyflyer attraction.

The Queen's Market, which was redeveloped, also remains empty with the local authority unable to generate enough interest in the site.
