A sustainable farming and food production trailblazer has announced a series of new developments to coincide with Organic September.

The 12,500-acre Rhug Estate, near Corwen, has been at the forefront of green agriculture for more than 20 years.

In 2024, the estate, led by owner Lord Newborough, has introduced new systems, processes, and facilities to benefit customers and the many animals on site, including North American Bison and slow-maturing turkeys.

The estate is one of only seven businesses in Wales to have received a Royal Warrant of Appointment from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Lord Newborough said: "There has been a period of significant investment in carbon neutral processes and green energy projects which will have a positive impact on our carbon footprint and the local area.

"Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and while we are fully behind the Organic September campaign, every month is organic here."

Recent developments have included the construction of modern and efficient mobile poultry sheds to accommodate up to 12,000 chickens.

The estate has also fitted a hydrogen electrolyser to one of its delivery vans, reducing exhaust emissions by up to 80 per cent.

Estate farm manager Emyr Owen said: "The list goes on and on, but we will keep working hard, striving to be even more sustainable and raising standards while embracing innovation.

"Our organic farm operation is a beacon of best practice for others in the UK and beyond, something we are immensely proud of, and the numbers reinforce that.

"There are more developments in the pipeline so watch this space.

"The organic ethos is at the heart of everything we do, it has been for more than 20 years and will continue to be for generations to come."

The estate is now offering a click-and-collect delivery service for customers choosing to pick up products rather than have them delivered.

Any customer wishing to click and collect can do so up until 11pm every Wednesday, with collection the following Friday.
