A memory walk in Pentre Mawr Park doubled its attendance from last year.

The event, organised by Dementia Friendly Abergele, was held on Saturday, September 21, marking World Alzheimer's Day.

Clwb Rygbi Abergele provided the use of their clubhouse for the event.

Despite heavy rain, the walk attracted more than 100 people of all ages and abilities, raising over £700 from registrations, donations, and refreshments.

The refreshments were donated by Tesco.

Each attendee was given a wooden love heart to write a message on for the Memory Tree display, a new addition to the event.

The Abergele Rotary Club once again stewarded the event, and North Wales Police's 'We don't buy crime' team was present.

The event aimed to create a 'supportive and inclusive environment for those impacted by dementia'.

The event was 'a great collaborative effort' and 'despite the torrential rain was far from a washout'.

Abergele TV has already edited a YouTube clip about the day, featuring interviews with Deputy Mayor Tracey Brennan.

The memory walk was part of World Alzheimer's Month, which aims to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's and dementia.
