A FOOTBALL match in Prestatyn beat the poor weather yesterday (September 22) to raise money for two charities.
The Reds vs The Hoops took place at Prestatyn Town Football Club, Bastion Gardens, with donations shared between Cancer Research UK and Cuddles, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd’s neonatal unit charity.
A total of £1,347.68 was raised, to be split equally between the two charities, while The Reds emerged victorious from yesterday's game.
Admission to the match cost £2, while there was a licensed bar, a food bar, cake stands, a bouncy castle, a beat the keeper competition, and much more.
Lee Howard, who helped organise yesterday’s event, said: “The day was a massive success, even though the game nearly had to be called off due to terrible rain.
“This was the first of the Prestatyn Community Charity Cup, and the boys want to hold it every year alongside Prestatyn Town FC.
“Next year will be bigger and better, and they are hoping to hold it earlier in the summer.”
