A MAN from Dyserth who left a member of door staff at a bar in Rhyl briefly unconscious after punching him has been jailed.
Dale Maguire, 29, of Newmarket Road, was sentenced to 14 months’ imprisonment at Mold Crown Court today (September 19).
He had previously admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Prosecuting, Amy Edwards told the court that, in the early hours of December 10, 2023, Maguire was refused entry into a bar in Rhyl because he appeared drunk.
Maguire then made his way to Ellis’s Bar, on Water Street, where he was again refused entry.
Upon being told this, and explained why, Maguire punched Kenneth Connor, a doorman at the bar, to the face, causing his head to hit a wall at the side of the premises.
Mr Connor lost consciousness momentarily and sustained a cut to his cheek.
Maguire refused to leave after punching Mr Connor, who was later taken to hospital.
Police were called, and when interviewed later that day, Maguire said he had no recollection of the incident, before answering “no comment” to further questions.
Defending Maguire, who had 12 previous convictions for 23 offences, Simon Killeen said: “Drink has played a big part in his antecedent history.”
But Mr Killeen said his client is now “abstaining completely” from alcohol, and has “good employment”.
He added that a letter written to the court by Maguire’s grandfather, who attended today’s sentencing, suggested there is a “totally different side to this man”, who has two children.
Sentencing, Judge Rhys Rowlands said Maguire was responsible for an “entirely unprovoked attack against a member of door security staff, who was carrying out a public function”.
Judge Rowlands told him: “It’s just the sort of unprovoked assault that can lead to very, very serious injury, if not worse - as this court is all too accustomed to seeing.
“I’m afraid this isn’t a case which simply falls on the cusp of custody. It’s not out of character for you.”
A restraining order was also imposed, banning Maguire from entering Ellis’s Bar and from contacting Mr Connor for three years.
